1. Who we are
ClearSignal is a Chrome extension for generating structured candidate feedback from ATS scorecard data. For any privacy-related questions, contact us at adelhamtest@gmail.com.
2. What data the extension accesses
When a recruiter opens a candidate profile on a supported recruiting platform and clicks the ClearSignal extension, the extension reads the following data from the current page:
- Candidate name and email address (as displayed in the ATS)
- Job title and interview stage
- Job description text (if present on the page)
- Interviewer scorecard data: attribute names, scores, written notes, and hire/no-hire votes
Supported platforms include Greenhouse, Lever, Workable, Ashby, and similar applicant tracking systems. The extension only reads data that is already visible to the recruiter on the page — it does not access any backend systems, databases, or APIs of the recruiting platform.
3. How we use this data
The data read from the page is used solely to generate a candidate feedback email. Specifically:
- Interviewer identities are anonymised before any data leaves the browser. Individual scorecards are labelled "Interviewer 1", "Interviewer 2" etc. — never by name.
- The anonymised scorecard data and job description are sent to the Anthropic Claude API (api.anthropic.com) to generate a structured, honest feedback email for the candidate.
- The generated email is returned to the extension popup for the recruiter to review, copy, or insert into the recruiting platform.
4. Data we never collect or store
ClearSignal is designed with a minimal data footprint:
- No candidate data is stored. Candidate names, emails, scorecard content, and generated feedback emails are never saved — not locally, not on any server.
- No usage analytics. We do not track how often the extension is used, which pages it runs on, or any behavioural data.
- No third-party advertising. We do not share any data with advertisers or marketing platforms.
- No persistent logging. Each use of the extension is stateless — nothing from one session carries over to the next.
5. Data sent to third parties
The only third party that receives any data is Anthropic (anthropic.com), via their Claude API:
- Data sent includes: anonymised scorecard content (scores and notes without interviewer names), job title, interview stage, and job description excerpt.
- Candidate email addresses are never sent to Anthropic.
- Data is transmitted over HTTPS and governed by Anthropic's privacy policy.
- Anthropic's API does not use submitted data to train models by default. See privacy.anthropic.com for details.
No other third parties receive any data from ClearSignal.
6. Local storage
The only data stored locally on the user's device is the Anthropic API key, saved in chrome.storage.local. This key:
- Never leaves the user's device except to authenticate requests to api.anthropic.com.
- Is never transmitted to ClearSignal or any other party.
- Can be deleted at any time by uninstalling the extension or clearing extension data in Chrome settings.
7. Candidate data and GDPR / UK GDPR
ClearSignal is a tool used by recruiters (the data controllers). Recruiters are responsible for ensuring their use of ClearSignal complies with applicable data protection law, including GDPR and UK GDPR, in relation to the candidate data they process. In particular:
- Recruiters should ensure their organisation's data processing agreements cover the use of AI-assisted tools for candidate communications.
- Candidates have the right to know that AI-assisted tools may be used in processing their application, where required by applicable law.
- ClearSignal does not act as a data processor in the GDPR sense, as it does not store or retain any candidate data on behalf of the recruiter.
8. Security
All data transmitted by ClearSignal — including API calls to Anthropic — is sent over encrypted HTTPS connections. The extension requests only the minimum permissions necessary to function. No data is written to external servers operated by ClearSignal.
9. Children's data
ClearSignal is a professional tool intended for use by recruiters and hiring managers. It is not directed at individuals under the age of 18 and does not knowingly process data relating to minors.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the extension after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. Significant changes will be communicated via the Chrome Web Store listing.
